‘We’re Welsh and We’re Worth It’

This project was aimed at vulnerable young women from Torfaen and gave them the opportunity to discuss how topics such as sexual health, body image and self-esteem affected young women in Wales.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed researching the role of Welsh women and discovering how women’s position in society had changed over the course of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first century.

During a residential weekend spent at St Briavel’s Castle, the girls participated in a number of workshops which encouraged discussion and debate and improved their self-confidence. The highlight of the weekend was learning and recording a dance routine which was performed in the girls’ customised Welsh costumes of red, white and green.
