Industry comes and goes, and so do the memories of those who toil and sweat for simple existence.
The young people of Penrhiwceiber researched, wrote, filmed and starred in this fictional tale about a young miner from the Cynon Valley Pit known locally as "Jacky Daw". The project has encouraged young people to look at their local culture and heritage whilst gaining an Open College Network Accreditation.
The research took the young people from local Miners Institutes to churchyards and even "Big Pit".
Their story fuses the things that today's young people take for granted with the hardships their peers had to endure. The group became particularly inspired by the stories of children and young people working in the pit.
Besides taking the heritage of their local community to heart, the participants also took away lasting memories to share with their families now and in years to come.
