'Our Heritage'

A Mixed Media Project, Hawthorn High School

Our group took part in an after-school club to create mixed media artwork which focused on the theme of Welsh heritage and was inspired by the work displayed in the Artes Mundi exhibition at the National Museum Cardiff. Researching the theme of Welsh heritage during our art classes meant that we developed our understanding of the subject and were able to present our ideas on canvas and film. We collected and experimented with materials and pictures and Welsh poems which were all included in our boards to create our very unique and original artwork.

"I chose to put Celtic art, terraced houses and mountains on my board because it is to do with Wales and our Welsh heritage" – Alex
"I enjoyed using mixed media to design my board; I got my ideas from the artist Sue Williams from the Artes Mundi exhibition" – Gemma
"Going with the Welsh theme, we researched Welsh poems, we looked at Welsh photos and thought about what Wales means to us" – Ross
