The “Freeze Frame” project brought together young people from across Swansea who were interested in exploring sites of cultural interest and developing new skills in digital photography.
The young people enjoyed visits to the National Eisteddfod, Dan yr Ogof Caves, Three Cliffs Bay and Carreg Cennen Castle. At each of these locations they took part in a variety of different photo shoots, all the while enhancing their artistic and technical ability with the camera. The young people also had the opportunity to attend a performance at Swansea’s Grand Theatre and to try their hand at archery at the Perriswood Centre.
Photographer, Kirsten McTernan, worked with the group at each of these sites, helping the young people to capture the best of their surroundings and appreciate their own heritage. With her guidance the participants took an array of stunning photographs of the locations, of each other, and of the nature and landscape around them.
As part of the project the young people organised an exhibition of their work at the White Room, Swansea Grand Theatre Arts Wing. This dynamic collection of work portrays the experience of the young people as well as capturing the timeless beauty of Wales.
