A group of young people from Penyrenglyn Community Project were asked to gather a collection of personal objects to form part of the first exhibition at St Fagans’ cutting-edge new gallery, Oriel 1. With ‘Belonging’ as the exhibition’s theme, the group’s collection encourages visitors to think of the many ways in which someone can belong to a country like Wales. The collection of objects is unique and original, as are the young people who chose them. To complement the display, the group has produced a compilation of short films which imaginatively illustrate the memories and histories attached to each piece.
